Forklift Courses in Singapore


Possessing a forklift licence or certification will be useful as it will be part of your skill set that helps increase the value you can bring to your company. Knowing how to operate a forklift gives you the ability to lift and transport heavy goods and cargo quickly and efficiently.

In Singapore, the WSQ “Operate Forklift” Competency Standard, endorsed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Workplace Safety and Health Council, was implemented in 2009. All workers operating forklifts will have to undergo the required training, and additionally displays the required competencies for forklift operation.

Some institutes that provide training include:

1. NTUC Learning Hub

NTUC Learning Hub provides two types of courses, either a 3-day or a 5-day course on WSQ “Operate Forklift”.

Both courses aim to educate the individual trainee in 4 areas:

• Operating a Forklift

• Inspecting a Forklift

• Preparation of Forklift before Operating

• Reinstatement and Handing Over of Forklift

2. AAT Training Hub

AAT Training Hub offers 2 courses: the 3-day or the 5-day training courses for acquiring a forklift license. The course contents include:

• Operating a Forklift

• Inspecting a Forklift

• Preparation of Forklift before Operating

• Reinstatement and Handing Over of Forklift

3. UMW Equipment

The contents of the course include:

• Operational and safety checks

• Understanding forklift capabilities

• Basic lift truck operations and manoeuvring

• Pallet and rack stacking

4. Tat Hong Training Services

The contents of the course include:

• Preparing and learning how to carry out a forklift operation

• Inspecting a forklift before operations

• Forklift operations

• Maintenance procedures after forklift operations

Forklift Licence Validity: According to the Singapore Standards Council SS573 : 2012, forklift operators are expected to attend a forklift refreshed course every 3 years. This is to ensure that they stay up-to-date with current safety practices and procedures.
